SNS has formed a task force to help address any restrictions/guidelines we might face in the Fall when school resumes. We will follow the directives given by the IDOE, Archdiocese and local health department. At this time, both the Archdiocese and IDOE is doing everything they can to resume in-person school in August. Obviously, time will tell and it will most likely change all the way up until the start of school and even beyond. We, however, felt it prudent to start thinking about and planning for whatever model we are asked to use.
That being said, we will be adding the following supplies to every student's supply list:
1 full 8 oz bottle of hand sanitizer that will stay on the student's desk. We will refill them at school as needed assuming a student does not need a specific type due to sensitive skin etc.
1 pair of earbuds or headphones in a ziplock bag with the student's name on it. These will remain at school all year.
1 water bottle with a leak proof lid (no straw holes; preferable with a flip-up straw or pop-up spout) that will be taken home daily to be washed. We do not anticipate water fountains being approved for use in the Fall.
1 facial covering (I am not sure if it will be needed or not, but want everyone to be prepared just in case. I also envision it being used at St. Nick only during passing times, not in the classroom all day as we will be following strict social distance spacing and cleaning protocols in the classrooms.)
I chose to send this out now because I know some items are hard to locate. You can be on the lookout all summer and, hopefully, by August been able to secure one for each of your students. Full school supply lists for each grade will be sent out later this summer.
I will continue to update you as information is shared/decided. Stay safe and enjoy your summer!
Peace and blessings,
Mrs. Kirschner
