DISCERNMENT FOR PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
The Parish Pastoral Council will hold a Discernment Session for new members on Monday, June 15, at 7:15 PM in the church family parlor. The Council is the principal consultative body to Fr. TJ and helps the parish carry out its mission by assisting Fr. TJ in developing the parish Pastoral Plan. The Council meets the third Monday of each month at 7:00 PM from August through June, and Council members serve a three-year term. In addition to providing timely updates and advice to the pastor at the monthly meetings, Council members also participate in regular committee work that sometimes requires several hours each month. If you are interested in discerning for one of the vacant positions, please contact Indiana Francis, at indianaf@stmartha.com by noon on Wednesday, June10.
PARISH BLOOD DRIVE
The second Parish Blood Drive for 2020, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, is scheduled for Sunday, June 14, 8 am-1:45 pm at the Activity Center on Woodland Hills Drive. With so many cancellations due to COVID, there is a great need for donors at this time.
The Knights of Columbus will be in the Narthex before and after each mass this weekend, June 6/7, to assist you with an appointment so that you may donate.
Walk-ins are always welcome on the day of the Blood Drive, however, appointments will be spaced out to assist with social distancing and patient blood usage. The Blood Center is requiring all donors to wear a mask. If you don’t have one, our staff can supply you with one.
You may schedule an appointment by emailing jnd.gurka@gmail.com or call Darien Gurka at (713) 628-0373. Online appointments may be scheduled by visiting www.giveblood.org. (Please enter the sponsor code 1220 for St. Martha Catholic Church) The Blood Center will provide a Double Red Cell Aphaeresis, which will allow some donors to give two units of red blood cells from a single donation.
As always, the Knights of Columbus would like to thank St. Martha parishioners for generously giving the gift of life.
