Hello, Everyone!
Please, be patient! This letter has a lot of information!
First of all: Thank you for bringing your child to St.James School!
Mrs. A & I enjoyed the privilege of getting to know him/her in our short year together.
We also want to thank you for being flexible through all the topsy-turvy times of learning during COVID 19! You are great parents and teachers!
It was great to see parents & a few grand parents walking through St.James' doors on May 21 & 22. A sample of the treasures & memories your child created in preschool are now at your home. Hopefully looking at & through them will cause a few giggles or proud smiles!
I wonder : After the pick-up in May I challenged families to bring Self -Portraits!
This challenge is still on for a few "customers"! If your son/daughter hasn't done so yet: Please, encourage your child to draw a picture of himself!
Aren't the portraits copied so far looking great?!
You may drop off the self-portrait along with the empty bag when you
pick up another activity bag on June 10th! That will give me another opportunity, to make copies for every classmate! Won't it be grand to see every friend's picture in your child's journal! Thanks for your help with that project!
Drawings on white paper copy best! Colored paper makes copies look "dirty".
Another question:
Has your child had a chance to start working on the surprise project in the last activity bag yet?
Your help will be needed for another project! This one involves St.James Fall Fest!
I am lucky enough to have a talented husband, who's hobby is wood working. He is willing to and in the process of building an Adirondack Chair. It will get a coat of white paint, so it can be used outside. Maybe it will serve as a reminder: There's a bright side to everything! - The "bright" on this chair will be your children's hand prints!
The chair will be auctioned off at St.James' annual Fall Fest. Hopefully it will help raise much needed funds for our school!
To make printing happen...
-A date/time for printing to happen has to be set.
-Would you be willing to bring your child to school to add a hand print to this chair?
-What time works best for your family? Morning? Noon or lunch time? Evening?
-My goal is to stay with COVID 19 safety guide lines :
* Unless recommendations change: please, wear a face mask!
*One grown-up brings the preschooler.
*One little hand will be painted, printed, washed.
* The next child will arrive & the process will be repeated.
* Please, keep a safe distance while waiting your turn!
* This project will be completed outside!
* I will have paints for printing - soapy water & paper towels for clean-up right there!
Dates for hand printing: July 8th...July 9th... or July 10th
Times I can be at the school on those days: 10a.m. - 1p.m.;
for afternoon/evening: 4p.m. - 6p.m.
Things to consider:
I know the chair will be built by then!
This chair is fairly heavy! I prefer to only move it once. My hope is that everyone's hand print can be put onto this chair during those days. Hopefully the chair can stay in the school entry until each child had a chance to add his hand print onto it!
We do not live in town. I will work on some things in the classroom while waiting for
the next child to be hand printed! (Almost sounds like police work :-0 )
Please, take a minute to look at & consider the suggested times & dates.
Do text or e-mail me with the time & date that best works for your family so I can set up a schedule! With your help, this class project will be a success! Thank you!!
One more thing: I did talk to Father Bernie about times for activity bags pick-up!
He will make sure that the doors at the Church East Breezeway will be open during
those weeks from Wednesday through Friday , 9a.m. - 7 p.m.
June 10 , 11 and June 12;
June 24 , 25 and June 26;
July 8, July 9 and July 10.
Remember to bring empty bags and self - portraits!
Do keep in mind: The East Breezeway doors are not open at other times or days!
St.James Church is now open for private payers. People who wish to come to church for private prayer are encouraged to use the other East door to enter the church.
Don't hesitate to e-mail or text with questions you may have!
Thank you so much for notes, pictures & comments on paper, via text or e-mail!
I look forward to a bit more fun in learning with your child!
Mrs. C
