With a full week of limited return to public Mass, I wanted to share with you our numbers. First, it is good to remind everyone that the obligation for Sunday Mass is currently suspended. So, this means that those who would like to participate in Mass and communion on a weekly basis could also do so on a weekday. We have two Masses Monday through Friday: 8:15 AM and 7:00 PM. To help you discern, here are our numbers:
On Memorial Day our first day with public participation we had:
9:00 AM Mass with 52 people
11:00 AM Mass with 19 people
Tuesday through Saturday morning, 19 was the fewest and 35 was the largest at both:
8:15 AM
7:00 PM
On Saturday evening, we had 130 for the private liturgy celebrating the Sacrament of Initiation. Welcome new Catholics!
On our first Sunday back, May 31st, these were the numbers:
126 at 9:00 AM
99 at 12:00 PM
63 at 3:00 PM
69 at 6:00 PM
111 households streamed live the 9:00 Mass on Sunday morning.
All the faithful over three years of age are encouraged to wear masks at Mass. Many experts say this can be helpful against spreading the coronavirus.
The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of the Lord is Sunday, June 14th. To enhance our celebration and amplify our love for Jesus truly present in the Blessed Sacrament, we will ring bells and incense the Blessed Sacrament at the consecration at Mass.
Thanks for your prayers. Be assured of my daily prayers for you.
During a stewardship week many years ago, when asked to consider how I give of my time, talent and treasure, for the first time as an adult I put serious effort into discerning what God was calling me and my wife toward. We began doing what we could with what we had, knowing that was good enough in God’s eyes.
Public Masses resumed on May 25th, with safety measures and precautions in place. Catholics remain dispensed from their Sunday obligation. We will continue the live-stream Sunday Mass while the dispensation is in place on our Youtube Channel, but the time has moved from 10:00am to 9:00am. We know how many look forward to SMOY Fest each Summer however after much waiting, hoping, and praying, we are canceling SMOY Fest 2020. As of this moment, there is still a great deal of uncertainty regarding any large gatherings and what the restrictions and requirements would be. The Festival should be a time of gathering and celebrating with our parish community and our neighbors. We look forward to seeing you next year at SMOY Fest 2021!
Gift Card Program
We have some good news! Because we've had quite a few parishioners inquiring about our Gift Card program from 10am-Noon on Fridays we will have a table in the Gathering Space where you will be able to purchase cards. We will, of course, be enforcing social distancing and other safety precautions.
