EXTRA HANDS NEEDED IN OUR GIVING GARDEN
The Giving Garden at Pax Christi provides fresh vegetables for our neighbors in need. Gardeners from Pax Christi plant seeds, water, and weed the garden throughout the summer. The harvest is donated to PROP. You may be wondering where the Giving Garden is located… It’s tucked into the western edge of our parking lot, next to the cemetery. Last year, this patch yielded an impressive 800 pounds of produce! Gardeners grow beets, radishes, squash, collard greens, turnips, tomatoes, and spinach. This year, we are looking for some “extra hands” to wash, trim, and bag the fresh produce in family sizes. The work will be done at a new outdoor washing station next to the garden to accommodate “social distancing.” Produce will be delivered weekly to PROP. If you would like to be part of the Giving Garden, please contact Mary Beth Schleif for details at marybethschleif@gmail.com.
BURGUNDY BAGS RETURN – VIRTUALLY!
There’s no need to grab your Burgundy Bag—this time your donation is just a click away with our first virtual Burgundy Bag Food Drive. Because of the pandemic, PROP’s food rescue programs from grocery stores have been reduced, creating a need to purchase more food than they have in the past. That means their greatest need is for cash donations to support food purchases, as well as gift cards (in $25 increments) to Target and Cub Foods. To donate,
CLICK HERE, which will take you to the PROP website. Make a donation in whatever amount you choose in honor of Pax Christi or a loved one. Or, if you’d like to donate a gift card to help clients with other essential needs, please mail the card directly to PROP at 14700 Martin Drive, Eden Prairie, MN 55344 with a note indicating your donation is part of Pax Christi’s Virtual Burgundy Bag Food Drive. Thank you in advance for your generosity to our neighbors in need within our community.
BEFRIENDERS ARE HERE FOR YOU
BeFrienders is a lay pastoral care ministry here at Pax Christi. This listening presence ministry brings specially-trained people into a caring, confidential, one-on-one relationship with others during times of special need by visiting with them and offering emotional and spiritual support. BeFrienders value God’s presence in all relationships. They are present to care, not cure, and strive to be open and non-judgmental while they actively listen to your story.
If you are experiencing a challenging time or are in a transitional situation, BeFriender ministers are here to journey with you and listen with compassion and without judgment. Contact Jean Thoresen, Director of Care and Support Ministry, 952-405-7211 to be connected with a BeFriender minister or to learn more.
