CONSIDERATIONS FOR THIS WEEKEND (7/4 & 7/5)
As you are most likely aware, there has been a significant increase in corona virus cases in Allegheny County and, in fact, in many areas of our state and our country. This has led to a temporary shut-down of restaurants and other gathering places in our county. The shut-down does NOT apply to religious gatherings, so we will have our regular schedule of Masses for this weekend, through the week, and as long as we can safely do so.
HOWEVER, it is imperative that we continue to observe the following directives:
- Our churches are limited to 25% capacity (i.e. no more than 200 people at St. Louise de Marillac and no more than 110 people at St. Joan of Arc.)
- Some type of mask/covering MUST be worn over one's nose and mouth when entering the church and at all times when inside.
- Hand sanitizer is to be used upon entering the church.
- Six feet of distance from others should be maintain throughout the Mass and when approaching Communion. (This does not apply to members of your immediate household -- e.g. spouse, siblings, parents, those you live with.)
There IS a voluntary stay-at-home directive currently in place, and the obligation to attend Sunday Mass is still suspended. Therefore, out of caution and respect for others, PLEASE, if you have any signs of illness (e.g. fever of any degree, persistent cough, unusual aches, etc.), have had contact with anyone who has been sick, are particularly vulnerable (due to age or health conditions), or care for someone who is particularly vulnerable, stay home and join us for our live-stream Mass (see details below) or watch any of the televised Masses available from various sources.
The fact that everyone has been cooperating with these requirements is truly gratifying and much appreciated! Such consideration helps to limit the possibility of spreading infection and, thus, gets us closer to the time when we can put all this behind us!
