Father Godfrey's Homily
OT 13A 2020
St. Benedict Cathedral
How many sweet and kind people have you seen these past few months? How many short-tempered, angry, tired, disrespectful people have you encountered? Some would say not to pay any attention to the difficult people. But maybe paying attention to the crucified, needy Christ in those difficult people is exactly our task.
Every part of Jesus’ instruction today calls us to focus more on Him. We are to love Him most. We are to be charitable to His disciples. We are to carry our cross and see Him.
Today, as we continue down the uncertain path of our difficult times, no matter how another person acts, let’s see if we can’t find Christ in them. And seeing Him, won’t we readily treat that person with more respect, more honor? Christ, we know you are all around us. Help us see you!
