My Dear St. Bernadette Family,
This is my last letter to you as pastor. I have strong and mixed feelings as I have so thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I sit in awe at all that you have accomplished and I know the best is yet to come for St. Bernadette Church and Wellspring Catholic Academy.
They call my transition an entering of the third stage of life. My first stage was blessed in the family and community I grew up knowing.A fondness for them
draws me back to the Fort Collin's area to call home. The second stage began forty-six years ago when I was ordained and has been such a blessing in my life. I have enjoyed almost every minute and never looked for greener pastures.
I have been blessed by being a part of many beautiful communities. The first was the deaf community who have taught me so much. I give constant thanks too Msgr. Ray Jones, my first pastor at St. Philomena Parish. What an inspirational man of God. I delighted in returning to my home parish, St. Joseph in Fort Collins, where I became pastor and had the opportunity to be near my parents in their later years. I was at Holy Cross in Thornton for twenty-five years where I still have some deep friendships. And now, St. Bernadette where I have received such blessing in friendships formed, work shared and dreams fulfilled.
I will still be active in my retirement. The church has such great need for vocations to the priesthood. I will be busy helping out in parishes, mostly northern and eastern Colorado. I do hope to make my way back here from time to time as I will continue to use those special gifts God has given me to minister with the deaf community.
God bless you all. Keep loving God and one another and announcing the Good News of God's unbelievable love for each person and all of creation!

Baptism
Baptism defined by the catechism of the catholic church - 1213 Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word."
