Dear St. Theresa family,
It looks like we are pressing the pause button for a time. Hopefully folks will redouble their efforts at whatever is needed to slow down this virus. We will continue with all our efforts to make those worshipping here as safe as possible. There are no plans to put on an additional mass until August at the earliest. Again, I thank everyone for your cooperation and a great spirit of working together. JD and all the volunteer ministers and our musicians have made it possible for us to offer the best worship experience given the limitations necessary.
As of today, the Bishop has revised his directives to require that everyone wear a face mask while at the church in those municipalities where the wearing of such is mandated, such as Austin. Not all will be in favor of this, but such are the sacrifices required in these times. The Bishop reminds the faithful that in addition to those who are not comfortable attending Mass the following are encouraged to stay home:
- All who are sick,
- those over 65,
- those advised by health care workers not to attend,
- those who must attend to individuals who are especially vulnerable.
He reminds those with these concerns that they are dispensed from the obligation to attend Mass in person and that worshipping with the live-streamed or recorded Mass at home coupled with a spiritual communion is the acceptable substitute.
We waved good-bye to Fr. Hai last weekend and sent him off with our blessings to his new responsibilities at the University Catholic Center. He is excited about sharing the light of faith with the students at UT.
We welcomed Brian Wheeler our new head of school and his family to Texas. He is busily settling in and consulting with others as we formulate a plan for re-opening the School in late August.
Please take care of yourselves and each another.
Blessings,
Fr. Larry
