Hi there, everyone! I hope that you are doing well! I just wanted to update you about our annual Mission appeal. I will be out of town this weekend & we were scheduled to have a missionary visit us this weekend for our annual Mission appeal. However, with everything going on, the missionary who was scheduled to visit us this weekend will not be able to be with us. We are still going to do the Missionary collection in 2 ways:
(Just click on the link & it will take you to the page.)
2. You can give in person in the baskets at the doors of the Church at the END of Mass this weekend. As you enter, the baskets will be there for the normal parish collection & at the end of Mass they will be there for the Missionary collection.
Here are a few notes about the Missionary who was supposed to be joining us this weekend & the work of his order:
Rev. Chuong Cao, C.Ss.R., a member of the Redemprorist order was supposed to be here with us to share the work of his community
The project we’re supporting is called “River Ministry on the Salimoes River in the Amazonas”
The Redemptorist community, travels by river to an upper branch of the Amazon area, to the remotest villages, which do not have ordinary pastoral care
Some villages see a priest only once a year & they travel by boat with a team of lay people
They celebrate the Sacraments & teach the catechism & help with the ongoing organization & continued faith formation of the local community
Obviously I can't share their story as well as Fr. Cao could have, but please be generous in supporting the work of the Missions!
Also, don't forget to pick up your 50/50 raffle tickets as you leave Mass this weekend. Tickets are $2 each & can be turned in to either the collection basket or the Rectory mail slot by August 9th.
God Bless!
Fr. John
