Happy Sunday. I hope your 4th of July was somewhat enjoyable!
Do you know who was the first bishop of the Untied States? His name was John Carroll. He was the bishop of Baltimore in the late 18th Century and later archbishop in 1808, when we in New York were made a diocese. Among his colleagues were President George Washington and Benjamin Franklin.
He wrote a lovely prayer for our government. Perhaps we can say this prayer together as we remember our nation’s Independence. God knows we need it!
We pray, O almighty and eternal God, who through Jesus Christ has revealed thy glory to all nations, to preserve the works of your mercy, that your Church, being spread through the whole world, may continue with unchanging faith in the confession of your name. We pray Thee, who alone are good and holy, to endow with heavenly knowledge, sincere zeal and sanctity of life, our chief bishop, the pope, the vicar of Our Lord Jesus Christ, in the government of his Church; our own bishop, all other bishops, prelates and pastors of the Church; and especially those who are appointed to exercise among us the functions of the holy ministry, and conduct your people into the ways of salvation. We pray O God of might, wisdom and justice, through whom authority is rightly administered, laws are enacted, and judgment decreed, assist with your Holy Spirit of counsel and fortitude the president of these United States, that his administration may be conducted in righteousness and be eminently useful to your people over whom he presides; by encouraging due respect for virtue and religion; by a faithful execution of the laws in justice and mercy; and by restraining vice and immorality.
Let the light of your divine wisdom direct the deliberations of Congress, and shine forth in all the proceedings and laws framed for our rule and government, so that they may tend to the preservation of peace, the promotion of national happiness, the increase of industry, sobriety and useful knowledge; and may perpetuate to us the blessing of equal liberty. We pray for his excellency, the governor of this state, for the members of the assembly, for all judges, magistrates, and other officers who are appointed to guard our political welfare, that they may be enabled, by your powerful protection, to discharge the duties of their respective stations with honesty and ability. We recommend likewise, to your unbounded mercy, all our brethren and fellow citizens throughout the United States, that they may be blessed in the knowledge and sanctified in the observance of your most holy law; that they may be preserved in union, and in that peace which the world cannot give; and after enjoying the blessings of this life, be admitted to those which are eternal.
Finally, we pray to you, O Lord of mercy, to remember the souls of your servants departed, who are gone before us with the sign of faith and repose in the sleep of peace; the souls of our parents, relatives and friends; of those who, when living, were members of this congregation, and particularly of such as are lately deceased; of all benefactors who, by their donations or legacies to this Church, witnessed their zeal for the decency of divine worship and proved their claim to our grateful and charitable remembrance. To these, O Lord, and to all that rest in Christ, grant, we beseech you, a place of refreshment, light and everlasting peace, through the same Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior. Amen.
INDEPENDENCE DAY PRAYER
Lord, we stand today as our forefathers have stood before You in times gone by, Celebrating our history and reveling in all the great things that our country has achieved.
On this day we rejoice in the favor You have graciously given us.
We thank You for the blessings of liberty, for this generation and for the generations to come.
We thank You for our independence, peace and for all those who have bravely given their lives in the defence of freedom and justice.
Make us a generous people, A holy nation.

- Sunday Masses are open to the public at 25% capacity. Mass Times are 5:30PM Vigil and 8AM, 10AM and 12 noon on Sunday. Please follow the sign up process for these masses.
- Weekday Masses are open to the public at 25% capacity. We are following the regular weekday schedule and masses will he held at 6:45AM and 9AM.
- Confession: Saturdays from 4-5PM.
- Live stream: All Sunday Masses will be live streamed. We will live stream the 9:00 AM weekday and Saturday Masses. Masses can be viewed on our website at IHM-Parish.org.
- The Rectory is open with limited hours of 10AM - 4PM.
- IHM Online Contributions through WeShare: Please consider using WeShare to set up electronic recurring contributions to IHM. Support our parish consistently, even if you are unable to attend Mass!
- Mail in Contributions: If you can't attend Mass or use WeShare, you may mail in your envelopes. We do not have a secure drop off spot on the premises, so please do not hand deliver your contribution envelopes to the Rectory. Our mailing address is: IHM Rectory, 8 Carman Rd, Scarsdale, NY 10583.

Month of the Most Precious Blood
Dear Friends in the Lord:
Now that public Masses have begun to be celebrated once again after months of quarantine for the coronavirus, dioceses across the country are preparing to collect a mail-in or online offering for the Catholic Missions among Black and Indian People on the weekend of July 11. I ask for your support for this important mission.
When we are told that the Lord calls each of us to be co-missionaries and co-evangelizers of the Church, as was St. Paul and other apostles, we do not often realize how much mission work there is to be done in the United States. There is far more than you or I could ever imagine. This offering enables the Church in the United States to provide desperately required pastoral, educational and spiritual assistance to some of the neediest of our brothers and sisters in the Lord. From the inner cities of the rural south to the deserts of the southwest to the wilderness of Alaska, grants from this annual appeal make it possible for the Church to assist our Black and Indian Catholic communities.
Here in the archdiocese, through the Office of Black Ministry, our Pierre Toussaint Scholarship Program receives support, thus allowing us to provide mentoring to college students from our Harlem and Bronx parishes who are attending Catholic colleges and committed to leadership and service in their respective parishes and communities.
With this letter, I invite you to be as generous as you possibly can be in making a sacrificial offering to this crucially important and necessary ministry of the Church.

MIDNIGHT RUN
Our next run will be on Tuesday, July 7. It will be our fifth run since the pandemic hit NY so, if cabin fever has you down, be buoyed by the impact you've had on so many lives!
- We are in need of bagged lunches across the holiday weekend. As usual, we'll need 50 bags of 2 sandwiches, snacks/fruit and juice/water. Let us know if you are able to put them together.
- With the generous donations of Amazon gift cards we've received, we're all set for toiletry kits and clothing kits that include a t-shirt, underwear and socks. The cards have been a great substitute for our 'normal' acquisition of supplies so if you can't help out with sandwiches, you can send a Amazon e-gift card or Walmart e-gift card to IHMMidnightRun@gmail.com and we'll order what is most needed. These gift cards are what keep us going!

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
- You must be a registered parishioner to attend the program. If you need sign up as a new parishioner, please click here.
- We will need a copy of your child's Baptismal Certificate. If your child was baptized at IHM and you misplaced your certificate, please use the IHM Baptismal Certificate Request Form on our website.
- The fee for the year is $355 for one child and $470 for 2 or more children. It is due at the time of registration.
