Dear Parishioners,
God Bless America
To my pleasant surprise, it's quiet here at St. John's. May God bless our nation on it's 244th birthday. May God save us from destruction and grace us with fruitfulness.
Controlled Disease Growth
CovidActNow.org reports that NJ has moved from green to yellow, from "On track to contain COVID" to "Controlled disease growth". For us, it means we need to continue to be prudent and careful. Other parts of the country are "at risk" or experiencing "Active or imminent outbreak". They need to take more serious steps to contain or keep COVID under control.
Increased Restrictions
While NJ continues to open our economy and our bishop has not increased restrictions, we are experiencing additional restrictions. Here's how. NJ has issued travel bans for many states. One consequence is that family and friends from those states cannot attend funerals in our church. Neither can we attend funerals in their churches without quarantining ourselves when we return home.
To help family and friends from other states, we can invite them to watch the funeral as we livestream it on our YouTube channel. This makes it easier for family and friends to choose to remain safe at home.

Sunday Strategy
Last Sunday went pretty smoothly. Most Masses were three quarters full and can fit more people. We also have plenty of room in the parking lot for those not ready to come inside. If you choose to stay home, you can watch Mass on our YouTube channel or listen on your phone.
God love you,
Fr. Jim
