Happy 4th, Church Family!
244 years ago, 56 men made a decision to declare independence, understanding they were risking their very own lives to do so. Imperfect as the United States is, we are still a beacon of freedom for millions. Had it not been this decision by these brave men, backed up by the sacrifices of the Continental Army, we would not enjoy the freedoms we have today.
We were made to be free. From creation God designed, and created, humans to be free. No human has the right to take another’s freedom, and our lives are richer for the freedoms we enjoy. Freedom finds its best roots in God’s eternal love, and when shared with others, gives joy to all.
Freedom is also costly. For the freedoms we enjoy in America, hundreds of thousands have given their lives to gain, and keep, freedom. The ultimate price was paid by Christ on the cross, a price paid so we could all experience the freedom His love alone gives.
I want to encourage you to live out the freedom in Christ you have received. If you are not experiencing the freedom in Christ you had hoped, please turn to Jesus and ask Him alone to give you the freedom you desire most. Jesus broke the bonds of sin, shame, guilt, and death so we could be free indeed!
Living out our freedom is also sharing it with others so they can experience it as well. So many around us are in the chains of sin. They need what we have, and the best stewardship of freedom is to work so others may have it also.
Wrapping up. As we experience true independence, may we come to understand this independence is founded on our dependence in Christ! Lean in on Him. Take Him at His word: Matthew 11:28-30
cheers!
