Religious Education Planning Guide
The Church has always considered parents the primary Catechists to their children, and the Church provides support and enrichment to the faith formation begun by parents through our Religious Education Program. (see CCC 2226) This time at home is in many ways Divine Providence, allowing us all to dive deeper into the richness of our faith and share it with our children.
Elementary
1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th:
Because of the different levels of caution that each family follows, we will provide both an in-person class and a home study program through St. Mary's Press. Please register as usual, and on Sunday, August 30th, we will have a PARENT ORIENTATION where you can meet the teacher, become familiar with the at-home program, and pick up your child's bible/activity folder. More information will follow with time for the orientation as we adjust to the latest COVID-19 Phase issued by the Governor.
If your child attends an in-person class, we will have Group A (1/2 of the class) come to the first scheduled class for the month, with Group B at the second scheduled class.
If you choose to do the home study program, teachers will be able to monitor each child's progress from home. A schedule of the lessons will be provided at the orientation for each grade so everyone stays at the same pace.
If you change your mind mid-way through the year, notify your child's teacher or the office, and your child will be able to resume the in-person class.
Kindergarten:
The diocese does not require class for this grade level, but we have enjoyed providing something for this age group. We will have limited space for this age group and it will be on a first come first serve basis. We will not provide a home study program, but will offer an in-person class using the protocol mentioned above. We plan to do hands-on activities while learning about the basics of our Catholic faith. More information will be given at Parent Orientation.
2nd Grade - First Communion and First Reconciliation Prep:
The same protocol will apply as above, except your children will use the Blessed program written by Dynamic Catholic. Everything is also available online. Details on Sacraments will be discussed at the Parent Orientation on Aug. 30th.
Middle and High School
Our classes for middle and high school will start at 4 pm and end at 6 pm. We will distance our small groups and not gather in large group as usual. We will send out another email with more details as it gets closer.
If you choose to do the home study program, we will have a process that your child can do at home. Please call the office to get more information if this is what you opt for.
Confirmation Prep:
We will have a Confirmation Parent Meeting September 30th at 5:30 pm.
12th Grade:
We are excited to provide continued enrichment for our High School Seniors. Each session will begin with the 11th grade Confirmation Students, then break off for a fellowship, coffee, and bible study. We will be doing The Search which was just released by the Augustine Institute. Religious Education registration is no required for this grade level, but please click the survey below if you child will be interested.
