God is in Control
“I saw the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne, a with the train of his garment filling the temple.” (Is 6:1)
Today’s reading is from the Book of Isaiah. It takes place at a time of great uncertainty and political upheaval. The king of Judah, Uzziah, has died and the people are in crisis. They fear the unknown and for their future. It is in this setting that God gives Isaiah a vision of Heaven. In his vision, Isaiah sees the Lord in all His glory seated on a high and lofty throne in the temple. Angels surround Him singing praises and smoke from incense fills the room. This vision is a reminder and reassurance to Isaiah that no matter what happens here on earth, God is still in control of everything in the universe.
We too are going through times of change and uncertainty. We too are worried about the future and fear the unknown. In the bible, the phrase “do not be afraid” appears 365 times. We have nothing to fear if we remember that the God is in control. When we put our trust in God, we find peace. Even though our world may seem to be in constant upheaval, we must remember that God is in control of everything.
