Dear Parishioners,
A special and important project for our church building is in process. The front main doors of the church will be replaced. The planning for replacement of the main doors began three months ago. Presently, the frame of the doors is wooden. The new doors will have metal frames that will enable the doors to open and close easily, without the swelling or shrinking of the wood frames. The metal will provide durability and ease of maintenance. A button for handicap access will be a feature of the new doors. Additionally, a timer will be installed to lock and unlock the doors according to our parish schedule. The completion of this project will occur within six weeks.
The main doors of a church building have a spiritual meaning and purpose. Jesus says in the Gospel, “I am the door. Whoever enters through me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture.” (John 10:9) When we reach out to open the door of the church we are making a conscious decision and action to enter the presence of Our Lord for our salvation. We can imagine the many hundreds and thousands of persons who will reach out to open the doors of the church for Mass, Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals, for prayer and those curious to see what is inside, all of these persons will in the words of Jesus “come in and go out and find pasture.”
A phrase from the blessing of the church doors reads: “Grant that those who enter this church with confident faith in him may persevere in the teaching of the apostles, in the breaking of the bread, and in unceasing prayer, and so be built into the heavenly Jerusalem.”
Your Pastor,
Father David

Queridos Feligreses,
Padre David
