There are some interesting guest speakers coming up, online and free, because our national Conference was cancelled. Please go to cwl.ca and click on the Summer Speaker Series August 10-14, 2020. THe focus in Care for our Common Home, Women in the Church, and the League of the Future. I got an email that they are looking forward to more people registering. I will be away on a canoe trip, so cannot take part during that week. (I was hoping to sponsor a church event tied in with one of the speakers.)
Dr. Cory Labreque, Ethics at University of Laval, Dr. Donna Orsuto, cofounder and Director of the Lay Centre at Foyer Unitas in Rome, Sister Nuala Kenny a CWL favourite, Fran Lucas National President Elect, and Anne Marie Gorman National President are the 5 speakers, one a day.
Thank you to Irene and Virginia for the great article summarizing our 2019/2020 year in The Clipper in early July. They did such a great job of promoting all the charitable work that we do.
Also, as there was no election for positions in the Saint Boniface Diocesan, Paulette will remain an extra term as President. Shw was looking forward to a bit of a breather, but did such a great job- they are lucky to hold onto her for a longer stint!
Lets end this newsletter in a prayer for your continued mental and physical health.
Pope Francis’ Prayer for Protection during the Coronavirus Pandemic
O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick. At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith.
You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.
We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin
