Hello everybody. Our attendance on the July 18th & 19th weekend was:
Sat 4:00 – 62
6:15 - 34
Sunday 8:15 -- 90 in church with 14 in the Overflow
11:00 -- 84 in church, no one in the Overflow
Because the 11:00 overflow is seldom used, but still requires volunteer attention, we will drop the overflow at the 11:00 starting next weekend, August 1st & 2nd, for the duration of the summer. When faith formation resumes, we will have another look. In the meantime, we will continue live-streaming both Sunday Masses, the 8:15 and the 11:00, for people viewing from home.
Hello people viewing from home! Hope you are staying well. I look forward to things calming down and seeing you back in church. But don't come back until you feel safe doing so.
Governor DeWine had a special address on a recent evening. People expected some kind of statewide clampdown, but he only urged more attention to mask wearing and social distancing to deal with the increase of diagnosed cases. The next morning priests of the Archdiocese received an email from Archbishop Schnurr urging us to take this issue seriously, reminding us that "From the beginning of the pandemic, a fundamental tenet of this archdiocese has been to follow the regulations put forth by the public health authorities in the interest of the common good."
"For the common good" is a key concept. The Archbishop supports the Governor in hoping that heightened attention could be for a brief time to get us over the hump.
And to quote the Archbishop again, "Our ability to maintain public celebration of the Mass may be dependent upon the counties in our archdiocese staying at health alert "Level 3" or less.
The sacrifices needed seem quite modest in comparison to the benefit of continued public worship and not moving backward."
So, let's all give prayerful consideration to what we each can do to contain the spread of the virus.
