19th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The liturgy for this Sunday, and in particular the Gospel and the First Reading reminds us of the gift of Faith we have in God and to trust in Him alone. Our First Reading as well as the Gospel calls us to remember that no matter the forces of nature or other forces around us, which at times will provoke terror, fear, and confusion that God will come in the simple, the calm, and at times underwhelming ways to rest our weary selves.
We must take consolation and beg for greater Faith when we are tempted to rely fully on anyone or anything that is not primarily God.
I recommend the simple practice of making an act of Faith.
Here is the act to use:
O my God, I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I believe that your divine Son became man and died for our sins and that he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches because you have revealed them who are eternal truth and wisdom, who can neither deceive nor be deceived. In this faith I intend to live and die.
Amen.
May God give you all a greater and more profound Faith, and please pray that I increase in Faith too.

Archbishop: In this time of need, join me for a Rosary Crusade
When God chose to enter the world to save us, he chose Mary, whose deep faith provided the way for Jesus to come among us. She believed in the words of the angel, “For nothing will be impossible with God” (Lk 1: 37). As she expressed her deep confidence in the promises of God, the Word became flesh. In our current time of crisis, our Church, world and our country need faith in God and the protection and intercession of Mary. And so, beginning on August 15, I am launching a Rosary Crusade to ask Mary to urgently bring our needs to Jesus.
I personally invite all Catholics in the Archdiocese of Denver to pray the Rosary every day between the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary, August 15, through the Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows, September 15. I would be remiss if I did not thank Bishop Carl Kemme of Wichita for inspiring this Rosary Crusade by launching one in his diocese at the beginning of August.

Pope Francis appealed for prayers for the Lebanese people in his Wednesday audience on August 5.
“Let us pray for the victims, for their families; and let us pray for Lebanon, so that, through the dedication of all its social, political, and religious elements, it might face this extremely tragic and painful moment and, with the help of the international community, overcome the grave crisis they are experiencing,” he said via livestream from the Vatican.
