What's the plan?
This Summer has been just about as crazy as the Spring semester, but we're excited to be jumping back into ministry this Fall! That being said, I'm sure you're wondering what youth ministry is going to look like at St Anthony's this year. Fortunately, with all of the regulations / cancelations this Summer, our youth ministry team has had a lot of time to brainstorm. Our hope for SAY this semester is to implement a mixed virtual and occasional in-person model for ministry.
What does that mean?
We will be shortening weekly youth group in order to be considerate of the youths' time spent online. It will most likely be 1 hr long with a short talk and small groups. Our small groups will also be moving to a discipleship model, which means that small group leaders will have the opportunity to do more focused / in-depth ministry depending on the needs of their small group.
Virtual vs. In-person
The majority of our curriculum for the semester will be communicated virtually through pre-recorded videos and live talks, and our small groups will be primarily online.
The in-person ministry* will likely consist of monthly events at the parish where the youth can come together to pray, play, and just be around one another. Some examples might include: Eucharistic Adoration in the Church, praise & worship, and movie nights.
*For our in-person events, we will be paying particular attention to CDC guidelines and safety regulations (e.g. masks, social distancing, sanitization, etc.). We believe it is important for our youth to still come together in person when it is appropriate in order to encourage community and to protect against loneliness, isolation, and discouragement.
What do I need to do?
Registration - We will be sharing links for Fall registration with you in the near future. Please make sure to fill out all the required information and get that back to us ASAP. This will help us better serve you and your children as we move into a virtual model of ministry
Flocknote - We highly encourage you to sign your child up for Flocknote. This will ensure they receive any updates / information regarding SAY along with you. We will only be using their information to communicate about SAY in texts / emails that you yourself will also be receiving. You can sign them up by replying to this email with their name, email, and phone number -OR- by inputing their information into the Flocknote sign up on our website
One last thing:
If we offered occasional "in person" gatherings for SAY, would you be comfortable sending your child / children to them (assuming we're following the appropriate safety guidelines)?
