Faith
“if you have faith the size of a mustard seed…” (Mt 17:20)
In today’s gospel from Matthew, we have the story of Jesus curing a boy of his sickness that his disciples could not. His disciples questioned why they couldn’t do it. Jesus replied “Because of your little faith. Amen, I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Mt 17:20)
Having faith requires us to truly surrender ourselves to Christ. It requires humility and complete trust in God. We are called to let go and allow him to take control. He will send us all we need, and we must humbly accept the help of others.
Prayer for Faith
Lord, as I confront the challenges of my day, help me to know that together we can handle anything. All worry and all stress I lay in the palms of your hands.
Lord, lift the weight of the day from my shoulders. Help me to remember to allow others to help. You gave us community so that we would not have to do it all ourselves. Teach me humility. I do not have to do this alone. Take this day into your hands and show me your way. Give me the grace and faith I need to let go. Amen
