We are trying to get a jump on our recruitment of those willing to be in costume as individuals or groups in this year’s Forest of Fear.  If you are interested and willing to organize your own group and create your own scene in the forest, please email Fr. Dunn at frdunn@diobpt.org or call him at our Parish Office at (203) 797-0222.  Individuals can do the same.  If you are in need of ideas and costumes, we are more than willing to help as well!  The Forest of Fear will be held from 5:30-9 PM on both Friday and Saturday nights, on the weekends of Oct. 16/17 and 23/24, and on Friday the 30th.  Rain dates will be on the Sunday’s of Oct 19^th and 25^th.

Something that is very important to both Fr. Ford and I, is Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.  We both are deeply devoted to Jesus in the Eucharist.  Prayer, especially in front of the real presence of Our Lord, is what supports and blesses the work we do at St. Gregory.  Without regular and devout prayer in the presence of Our Lord, a Parish will truly suffer.  Therefore, we will offer Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament for one hour (from immediately after the 8 AM Mass to 9:30 AM).  Going forward this will continue every Friday.  I encourage you to help bring blessings to both our Parish and your personal life by joining us for this Holy Hour.

It is with great joy that Bishop Frank J. Caggiano would like to announce that our parishes will be able to resume public worship inside our church buildings. In those parishes that are ready to follow our established norms, the celebration of weekday Masses, Funeral Masses and Nuptial Weddings within our Churches may also resume.

The weekend Mass schedule is as follows:

- Saturday Vigil @ 4:30pm

- Sunday @ 8am 10am & 12pm

Please let us know if you will be attending Mass by calling our Parish Office (203) 797-0222 or emailing us at sgbulletin@aol.com.  This should be done on a weekly basis beginning every Monday. ( This is not necessary for weekday Masses.)
 
 By signing up to attend the parish service, you recognize the obligation to (i) wear a mask or face covering when required; (ii) adhere to all required direction regarding social distance spacing when participating in the service and (iii) not attend service if you are sick, experiencing any symptoms consistent with the coronavirus, or are otherwise required to be quarantined.

There’s a true story about a Pastor who was frustrated at his new parish because hardly anyone would sing the church hymns at the Sunday services.  One day at the end of Mass he was processing down the aisle, when a man at the end of a pew caught his attention- not only was he not singing, but he also had a rather stern or angry look on his face.  At wits end the priest leaned towards him on his way out and said, “Why don’t you sing!”  Later on that day the priest found out through another parishioner that the man he yelled at had just lost his only daughter through a terrible accident.  The priest immediately called and met with the man to both 

reconcile with and help him.

     We can all at times be too quick to assess or judge others- based on their appearance, status, or something they said or did.  We may not do this directly to the person, but we do this in our thoughts, hearts or in conversation with others.

     Such was the case with the Canaanite woman in our Gospel.  To the Apostles and Jews she was a Gentile- equal to a dog in their eyes.  So it was shocking to them when Jesus stopped to speak with her, engaged her in conversation and exclaimed, “O woman, great is your faith!” and healed her daughter.

     The point is we cannot be too quick to judge others or size them up in a superficial way.  If we do, we’ll find that our judgments or conclusions are often inaccurate or just plain wrong.  Jesus didn’t spend his time judging or sizing up others.  Rather He looked past the superficial and into the heart.  We should do the same.  If we do, we’ll find that there really is no difference between one heart and

 another.

Thank you so much for your past generosity and support in regard to my “Pastor’s Wish List!  During this time of sheltering and the live-streaming of Masses only, we have taken advantage of our empty church to make many improvements.  The entire interior of the church has been repainted.  Also, through your continued generosity we received donations for beautiful paintings of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary over our candle racks, a new podium for our cantors, and a mural of the Last Supper on the front of our altar.  Recently we just secured a donor for the refurbishing of our pews, which should be completed before we return for indoor masses.  The final interior project which needs attention is the refurbishing of our kneelers.  The cost of this is $7,500.  If you are able and would like to make a partial or full donation towards this project, please email (frdunn@diobpt.org) or call me at (203) 797-0222.  I greatly appreciate your help and support.  I look forward to returning to our now beautiful church in the near future!
