Dear Members and Friends of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish,
The Massachusetts Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report issued on August 12, 2020 has classified Hull as "RED" - high incidence.
The parish will add the following protocols to those that we have already implemented in the battle against COVID-19.
Take the temperature of every attendee as they come for Mass or other sacramental celebrations using infra-red thermometers provided by the Archdiocese. Any temperature of 100.4 Fahrenheit (38.0 Celsius) or greater is considered to be a fever by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). Temperature checks will be done as discreetly as possible, and in a location where the thermometers and the people using them are not left standing in the sun, which could impact the reading. If you register a temperature of 100.4 or greater, you will be treated with respect and discretion when informed of this and directed to contact your physician. You will be directed to a secondary exit so that you are not crossing paths with others waiting to be checked. This applies to weekday Masses and funerals and baptisms and other worship events as well.
Continue to require registration for Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning Masses as well as for Funeral Masses. As people arrive at church for daily Masses and other sacramental celebrations we will collect names and contact information as they arrive. We will keep lists of all participants for 14 days before securely disposing of the information.
The current rules for confessions need to be applied strongly - masks, and six feet or more between the confessor and the penitent. Temperature checks and lists will not be taken for confessions.
We need to take care of each other.
Fr. Scott
