Working Through a Global Pandemic July 2020
Jacqueline Nogier, Implementation Committee Member and Goal 3 Lead
Despite working from home, travel restrictions and business closures, the work of the League continued. All of the working groups and the implementation committee have become adept at signing into online meetings, turning on and off web cameras, and muting microphones. Sometimes there was connectivity trouble and we could not see one another as clearly as we would like, however, we made things work and are moving forward in the quest to rejuvenate the League.
There are four Goal 3 working groups, with 17 women who are hard at work and who have adapted to the changing world. Team members have accessed shared Google documents and have contributed to brainstorming using those documents. The work of bringing the strategic plan to life continues despite all roadblocks encountered. This month, two of the four groups working on Goal 3 strategies are featured.
Working Group 3A was tasked with eliminating League misconceptions. The group has created a precise and detailed action plan that (once approved by the implementation committee), will start the work of addressing misconceptions held by members and non-members alike. This group, along with others, will work towards increasing the League’s cultural and generational diversity. Working Group 3A is dreaming of sharing the exciting things the League does with everyone to dispel preconceived notions about the League.
Working Group 3C took on the challenge of creating three ready-made, adaptable toolkits for parish councils to access. The group members have taken this challenge to heart and are prime examples of members jumping in with both feet for the betterment of the membership. The group completed a streamlined process to research, create and publish three toolkits on faith, service and social justice. Working Group 3C has a vision where everyone has the necessary tools at their fingertips to create vibrant and animated parish councils.
