The Chrism Mass, celebrated Tuesday, April 11th, at the Cathedral, brought together Priests, Religious, and Lay parishioners from all the parishes within the Wichita Diocese.
The Priests renewed their promises and commitment to the priesthood and their unity with Bishop Kemme.
The Holy Oils (Oil of Catechumen, Sacred Chrism, and Oil of the Sick) were blessed by Bishop Kemme along with all the Priests. These oils were then distributed between all the parishes to use for the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Anointing of the Sick, and Ordination throughout the year, until the next Chrism Mass.
Pictured above, Bishop Kemme breathes on the Sacred Chrism, invoking the Holy Spirit. The Sacred Chrism, containing olive oil and balsam, will be used for the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Ordination.
