Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Today marks the beginning of the holiest week of the liturgical year when we commemorate the passion, death and resurrection of the Lord. On this Palm Sunday we hear of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, but we also hear the account of the Passion from the gospel of Luke. The ones who were lauding Jesus as he entered were also the ones who in a very short space of time were crying out “crucify him.” There are some powerful meditations to be had this week on the nature of the saving work of Christ and its meaning for each one of us. Let me heartily encourage you to make special efforts to attend the Holy Week services starting with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Thursday, the Good Friday Service
and the Easter Vigil/Easter Sunday Mass. The details are included in the bulletin.
May God bless all of us as a community in these sacred days.
Fr. Tony
