The Sacred Triduum begins the evening of Holy Thursday, April 13th and concludes the evening of Easter Sunday, April 16th. The word Triduum means "three days" because of this time span, one day lasting three days, maybe because we are continually in church! Holy Thursday is all about Jesus' self-giving. In imitation of Jesus we give our own body and blood when we serve others. The mystery of Good Friday calls us to the transformation of self that is the only way to love, obedience, and faithfulness. This day is a reminder that the road to abundant Life is paved by a cross. At the Easter Vigil we are reminded that each time we celebrate the Eucharist, we are encountering and being nourished by the risen One. Each time we respond to another member of the Body of Christ, we are encountering the risen One. On Easter Sunday we continue celebrating darkness giving way to light, death giving way to Life. The goodness of our lives challenges others to see and believe, to see and love, to see and come to the Light.
