Brothers:
I'm sorry I've not written sooner. As always, there is a lot going on.
First, I want to thank those who were able to attend our Boccie Ball Tournament earlier in the month. Understandably, it was a small group with about a dozen members attending including Deacon Pete who stated it was "the best Boccie Ball tournament he has every attended."
Now to be honest, I think it was his first Boccie Ball tournament, and we didn't really get around to playing Boccie Ball, but we had a good time laughing and sharing stories as well as enjoying Tim Rothermel's famous Caesar Salad.
I can't believe September starts in just two days. Where did the Summer go??
Traditionally, we would gather this Thursday, September 3, but because September came so quickly, we are moving the gathering to the following Thursday, September 10, 2020, at 7PM, via Zoom (see invite below for further details). And we'll be joined by a special guests, Fr. Pat Brennan, CP of the St. Paul of the Cross Retreat Center.
Fr. Pat's timing is impeccable as our annual retreat is scheduled for the weekend of September 25 thru 27, 2020. The cost of the retreat is $215 which covers a comfortable bed, a fabulous shower, and some great food. If you are interested, you can learn more and sign up at
https://www.stpaulretreat.org/retreats/
The team at St. Paul is taking extraordinary steps to keep everyone safe during the time of this pandemic. Fr. Pat and Tom Pyden (our parish's point person for all things Men's Retreat) will share more during our gathering, but note if you cannot make it Sept 25 thru 27, that it is more than OK to attend one of the other retreats later in the year.
Finally, I hope everyone is hanging in there through these unusual time, and that you continue to pray for the St. James community and our group. I know I keep all of you in my prayers that God blesses you and your families.
See you (via Zoom) on Thursday, September 10, 2020, at 7PM.
God Bless,
John Fitzpatrick
