Praised be Jesus Christ!

As we enter September, we celebrate the Feast Day of another one of our chosen Saints: St. Teresa of Calcutta (September 5.) It is hard to find a better witness of service then dear Saint Mother Teresa!

Following are some words from her that we might want to reflect or meditate on as we consider the works of charity we are being asked to offer this month.

"Faith in action is love and love in action is service"

"Do things for people not because of who they are or what they do in return, but because of who you are."

"Peace begins with a smile..."

"There are not great things, only small things with great love. Happy are those."

"If you judge people, you have no time to love them."

"Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier."

SPEAKING OF SERVICE . . .

The Parish Festival is September 12/13. The Altar and Rosary Society will be selling ice cream treats on Saturday, September 12 from 12-9p.m. We will need a few extra hands for this. Please signup to help HERE.

Because we are not asking for baked goods donations this year, and our need for the number of workers is much less, please consider signing up to help in another area of the Festival, or donating to the Silent Auction. If making a basket is not your thing or you do not have a specific item to donate, you can always donate a gift card. These can be turned in to the parish office anytime before September 10. Thank you for considering this!

Handmaids of the Heart of Jesus

Wow! The generosity shown in providing for the needs of the Handmaids as they continue to work on the convent, their future home, was incredible! Thank you! A special thanks to our Altar and Rosary sister, Chris McDonald, who spearheaded this beautiful welcome for the dear Sisters.

Moving forward, we will be asking the Sisters for a list and doing a collection the first weekend of each month for them. This will begin in October, so watch for that in next month's newsletter.

Also, more work days with the Sisters will start in October. You can help with construction work or sign up to provide a snack or lunch. Click HERE to see times and to sign up.

Altar Help: Altar and Rosary Society cares for the liturgical needs of our church and sanctuary and is currently in need of help with cleaning of the Torches. Training will be provided. Please prayerfully consider if you are able to help and respond as soon as possible to Carol Pierce at 612.968.9182 or piercefc6970@gmail.com.

TASK: Torch Cleaning
TIME COMMITMENT: 30–45 minutes per week
DESCRIPTION: Clean the waxoff the torches. Currently 1 person is doing this and needs to have a second person.

Altar and Rosary Holy Hour

Altar and Rosary has a Eucharistic Adoration Hour on Monday mornings from 3:00-4:00am. Some of the women that have been faithfully covering this hour are no longer able to do so.

The hour has been divided so that different women cover different weeks of the month. If you have never experienced spending an hour with Jesus in the quiet of the night, this is an excellent opportunity, without a weekly commitment - it is only 12 times a year! We are in urgent need for women to cover the 2nd, 4th and 5th Monday of the month. If interested, please contact Mary Kotchevar at 612.926.8324 or email kotc0006@umn.edu.
