Road Closure Alert
The Granite City Public Works Department is planning road repairs at the intersection of Johnson & Pontoon roads at some point next Tuesday-Thursday (September 15-17), weather-permitting. Construction should start in the morning, and they hope to finish in one day if possible. The intersection will be closed and detour route marked, but our parking lot entrances will still be open. As we know more, we'll send a note with an update next week.
Discipleship Reflection of the Week:
This week's Gospel talks about the steps to gain reconciliation and right relationship. How do I model civility and love for neighbor? How do I encourage civility, clarity, and compassion within my family, home, and circle of friends and acquaintances?

Faithful Citizenship Discussions
As Catholics, we bring the richness of our faith to the public square. We draw from both faith and reason as we seek to affirm the dignity of the human person and the common good of all.
This October, we're hosting a series of reflection and discussion nights on different dimensions of Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship, the US bishops’ teaching document on the political responsibility of Catholics, which provides guidance for all who seek to exercise their rights and duties as citizens. We hope you join us. For more information, go to

Receiving Communion on the Tongue
Knowing that some faithful prefer the opportunity to receive Holy Communion on the tongue rather than in the hand, our parish pastoral staff discussed how to make this possible and has decided to try the following: We'll place a small table with hand sanitizer near the position on the side of the church nearest the organ console and choir loft. This will allow the minister of Holy Communion on that side of the church to stop and sanitize their hands if necessary. Anyone wishing to receive Holy Communion on the tongue rather than in the hand is asked to approach at the end of the line (after others have received) on that side of the church.
Lectors & Extraordinary Ministers Trainings
Mark your calendars! Refresher trainings and ministry meetings for Lectors and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs) this month. If you're interested in joining one of these ministries, you can come these nights too. We'll also have the annual Lectors Workbook available at the lectors' training. If you're unable to attend, we'll send a video of the highlights afterward.
- Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion: Wednesday, September 16, 6:30-7:30 PM in the church
- Lectors: Wednesday, September 30, 6:30-7:30 PM in the church
Becoming Catholic: An Invitation
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a journey of discernment & conversion to God and what He intends for us. RCIA is the process by which adults who were never baptized, or were baptized in another Christian tradition, or baptized Catholic but never received Confirmation or First Eucharist, become fully initiated members of the Church, a people on pilgrimage to our Heavenly Father. It’s also an
opportunity for anyone to stop in and learn more about their faith. If you know of anyone who may be interested, just reply to let us know how to reach out to them, or email FaithFormation@stelizabethgc.org. Full registration information is also at
stegranitecity.org/rcia. “Come and see.” (John 1:39)
