Everyone needs a good sidekick. Someone to watch out for you, to guide you, to protect you, and sometimes to tell you things aren't quite right. Our Guardian Angel is standing by our side, ready to defend us, and ready to help us on our journey of faith.
There are some important things to know about our Guardian Angels. First, they are chosen by God to guide each one of us. This makes things very personal! God created us, He knows us inside and out, therefore He knows what is best for us. And so, our Guardian Angel is there to help us on our individual journey of faith.
Second, they are given to us to guide and protect us, but they can't do all the work. So it is us to us to listen to them, and to surrender our own needs, wants, and desires in order for them to do their work effectively.
Third, in order for us to be able to listen to their guidance, we must listen to them, in the silence. This is difficult for us in our world of noise, but it is necessary.
Finly, they are sent to us from heaven. They come from heaven to earth, then back to heaven to intercede for us before the Throne of God. And so, they help show us to way home: we follow them on our journey to heaven.
We see Angels present throughout scripture. In the Psalms, we hear about how they are sent from God to protect us in our distress:
We even read that even Jesus received the strength and protection of angels when He was tempted by Satan:
Pray to your Guardian Angel, they are there to guide and protect us, especially in time of difficulty and strife.
This past year has presented us all with both some common struggles, and even some particular ones which are unique to each of us. As our country prepares for our election, please pray this prayer to the Guardian Angels, asking them to protect us each individually, and collectively as a country. That we may never fail to see God's strength protecting us and guiding us always, no matter how difficult things may seem.
