Dear Friend,
The Fall 2020 edition of Archways, the quarterly magazine of the Archdiocese of New York, is now available online. To view or download, click here. It’s hard to recall that, a year ago, none of us had ever heard of the novel coronavirus. In our region, we give thanks to God that the dark days of spring and early summer are behind us; that we can attend Mass in person, receive Communion, visit a loved one. Until a working vaccine is created, however, the crisis is not over. Restrictions remain, the economy is hobbled, and there is concern that the virus, still raging in other states, may return if we let down our guard.
So where is the hope, the peace, the joy? In this issue of Archways, we humbly crack open the door to let in some light.
We have much to be thankful for. New York is blessed in its association with an extraordinary roster of saints and holy ones, both home-grown and immigrant, from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton to Mother Cabrini, Pierre Toussaint to Dorothy Day. Our cover story, “Saints/Heroes of New York,” tells their stories and also profiles the work and dedication of some contemporary Catholics who are following in their footsteps: priests, nuns, health-care professionals and community members who have stepped up to help us and our neighbors in a time of need. Their stories offer inspiration and a reminder that Jesus is among us.

PUBLIC SQUARE ROSARY RALLY
You are invited to the 2020 Public Square Rosary Rally on Saturday, October 10 at 12 noon in the South Parking lot of IHM Church. This year as we pray Our Lady’s Rosary and other prayers in her honor, we invoke her blessings on marriage and the family and on our country and the world. This Rally is one of 20,000 rosary rallies, organized by America Needs Fatima, that will take place all over the United States. This is the Saturday closest to October 13 the day the sun danced at Fatima Portugal. Please make an effort to attend. The Rosary Rally Captain is Dr. Priscilla Parameswaran (914) 441-8805. Please bring your lawn chairs and be there on time.
Every ten years in the U.S., there is an official count of all Americans. Please submit your census questionnaire as soon as possible. It is important that we are not under counted in Westchester County.

GRADES 2-8 BOOK PICK-UP:
- On Monday and Tuesday, September 21 & 22, (rain date Sept. 23) - Book distribution will take place from 11AM - 1:30PM in the school parking lot.
- Begin working on the packet as soon as you pick it up, a calendar of assignments will be given to you to help you plan out the weeks.
- When picking up the books, there will be an outline/permission slip for you to sign for Zoom classes. You will be able to take a copy home to share with your child(ren). Please be sure you receive a copy.
- Masks & social distancing are required in order to pick up the books.
- You may register your child(ren) if you haven’t already done so.
RE-REGISTRATION:
- If you have not re-registered, or have not paid tuition for the 2020-2021 Catechetical Year, please mail this information or drop it off at the Religious Education Office as soon as possible.
- There is a box under the bell outside of the building. Please put your papers in the box and ring the bell and we will come up to get it.
- Tuition for the year is: $355.00 for one child and $470.00 for two or more children.
- Please remember if the registration form and tuition are not received by September 15, you will need to register when you come to pick up your child’s books (dates above).
- Books will not be given out if you have not registered.
- If you are registering a new child to our program, we will need a copy of their Baptismal Certificate. Please bring a copy with you along with the original so we can see it.

There are many addictive illnesses, including addictions to alcohol, drug, gambling and pornography. Dear Friends in the Lord:
As I write to you today, I not only give thanks fr our new rector, the Most Reverend James Massa, but also for the exemplary leadership of Monsignor Peter Vaccari, rectory for the past eight years, and to Father William Cleary who has been serving in interim rector this year.
Whenever I receive letters from parishioners, no letter delights me more than when I read how much the faithful love their priests. And as you know, many were educated and formed at St. Joseph's Seminary, Dunwoodie.
Our seminarians are not only the future shepherds of our flock, but they will also be spiritual guides and leaders in our wider communities. We must be sure that they are as well prepared as possible to service the Church in New York. And for the last 124 years, Dunwoodie has been that place of formation. Thousands of holy, dedicated and faithful priests have been ordained over these years. It is nationally renowned, held in the highest regard by bishops from around the country. Each year, other dioceses and religious orders send their candidates to our priestly formation programs,
As I write to you today, I ask you to consider, in your own prayer, a sacrificial gift to the Annual Seminary Appeal. It will be collected on the weekend of September 27, 2020. Your support will provide tuition, room and board, academic training and spiritual formation for about 25 seminarians of the archdiocese studying here. (If you include seminarians from other dioceses and religious orders, the total population is 64). In a word, your support will help prepare young men who will inspire those letters of admiration that I receive daily about so many of our great priests.
The priesthood is a life of sacrifice and service. As you know, we do not have as many men making the commitment to serve as priests as we did years ago, and I am so grateful to those who accept the Lord's call. - The time commitment is for once a week, between 10:15am and 12pm.

- if you cannot commit to a regular weekly route, consider becoming a “Substitute“ Volunteer and fill in as needed.

GENERAL INFORMATION
- Sunday Masses are open to the public at 25% capacity. Mass Times are 5:30PM Vigil and 8AM, 10AM and 12 noon on Sunday. Please follow the sign up process for these masses.
- Weekday Masses are open to the public at 25% capacity. We are following the regular weekday schedule and masses will he held at 6:45AM and 9AM.
- Confession: Saturdays from 4-5PM.
- Live stream: All Sunday Masses will be live streamed. We will live stream the 9:00 AM weekday and Saturday Masses. Masses can be viewed on our website at IHM-Parish.org.
- The Rectory is open with limited hours of 10AM - 4PM.
- IHM Online Contributions through WeShare: Please consider using WeShare to set up electronic recurring contributions to IHM. Support our parish consistently, even if you are unable to attend Mass!
