Dear Clonmelians,
This week marks the kicking off of our 2020-2021 Religious Education and Faith Formation year. I want to make you aware of the many opportunities for Faith Formation we are offering for ages 3-103+ and invite you to participate in one or more of them.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (ages 3-12)
CGS is a hands-on approach to helping our youngest parishioners develop their own relationship with God, using provided materials and scripture to grow closer to the Good Shepherd. Registration for CGS will begin next week and CGS will start October 12th & 14th.
We are offering the following CGS Levels this year:
Level 1 (age 3-6): Monday 2-3:50pm, 6:20-8pm, Wednesday 2-3:50pm
Level 2 (age 6-9) & Level 3 (age 9-12): Monday 11:55am-1:40pm, Wednesday 4-6pm
Sunday Religious Education (grades K-5)
Religious Education for grades K-5 is offered on Sunday mornings from 9:15-10:15am. Using the Spirit of Truth series by Sophia Institute, we guide children in this program through the basics of the faith. Classes begin Sunday, September 20th.
Wednesday Faith Formation (grades 6-12)
Every Wednesday evening for our 6-12th grade youth we gather in community for Mass at 6:30pm, and then gather for a meal at 7pm. At 7:30pm we break off for classes relevant to each age group. This year those classes are: 6th grade (The Mass/Mary & the Saints), 7th & 8th grades (Old Testament/Theology of the Body), 9th & 10th grades (Church History/Supernatural’s), 11th & 12th grades (Theology of the Body/Supernatural’s). Our first Wednesday is September 23rd.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (adults)
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) offers adult religious education for those who have not yet received all of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Communion, Confirmation) or for those who have received the Sacraments but wish to learn more about the foundations of the Catholic faith. RCIA classes take place each Sunday from 9:15-10:15am starting Sunday, September 20th.
Adult Education Class (adults)
This year the Adult Ed class will be journeying through Church History. The history of the Church is not just the recitation of popes and saints; it is a story of adventure, intrigue, rebellion, reform, and devotion. In this class you will learn about the important people, places, and events in two thousand years of Church history. Join the Adult Ed class on Sundays from 9:15-10:15 am.
Lectio Divina Group (adults)
Lectio Divina, Latin for Divine Reading, is a co-ed study of the Gospel for the coming Sunday’s Mass that will happen on Thursday’s at 7pm in the Parish Center. The Fall 2020 scheduled dates are: Sept 24, Oct 1, 15, 22, 29, Nov 5, 12, 19, Dec 3, 17. Each week is it’s own standalone study so you can come when works for your schedule.
Kapaun’s Men (adult men)
Kapaun’s Men meets every other Saturday morning with breakfast at 6:00am and the program of study from 6:30-7:30am. This year they are working through the Into the Breach series from the Knights of Columbus that seeks to answer what it means to be a Catholic man in today’s world. Their next meeting is Saturday, September 26th.
Walking With Purpose (adult women)
This year the women of WWP will be doing a 17 week study called Grounded in Hope, a scripture study of the Letter to the Hebrews. WWP meets on Monday nights from 7-8:30pm, and takes one Monday off every month for participation in the Altar Society meetings. WWP sessions will begin October 12th and registration for WWP will begin next week.

-Rooms and surfaces will be disinfected after every session/meeting
-Seating in rooms will be distanced as much as possible
-Our Wednesday meals will be served to the youth pre-plated with social distanced seating
