Reflecting on the logistics of disinfecting the Church before and after the orientation to the “Family Faith Formation Program” in between the Sunday Masses I realize that it will be too much of a challenge. The key concern is how to dismiss the families at the 9:30 am Mass that will not be attending the orientation, disinfect the Church and then welcome into the Church the families that will participate in the orientation. For this reason, I have decided to move the Sunday orientation from the Church to the School gym. To give the parish team time to prepare for the change of venue the orientation has been moved to the following Sunday the 27th of September. This includes the evening orientation for the youth families. The Tuesday orientation in Spanish and the Wednesday orientation in English will continue as planned.
We will continue with the blessing of the Catechists at all the Masses this weekend. As customary we will bless the Church Catechists especially as they learn a new way of exercising their ministry by focusing on teaching, coaching, and accompanying the parents as the home catechists. We will also bless all the home catechists, the parents that are being called to live their vocation as Christian parents and disciples of Christ by passing on the faith to their children. This is best done by “living the faith” at home. Bishop Barren stated: “The 2020 Catechetical Sunday theme is taken from St. Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, “I Received from the Lord what I also Handed on to You.” This theme focuses on the essential work of catechesis, which is an invitation to a whole new life given by Christ Himself. It emphasizes that living faith necessitates movement, inspiring all those who hear the Word to share it as witnesses of the true and living God.”
