Dear Friends in Christ,
Good afternoon, I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful day. With construction on our facility enhancements underway, I wanted to give you an update on the progress so far.
Preliminary grading for the meeting room addition to the Gathering Space is already complete. To prepare for the elevator, Corbett Construction has removed the interiors of the existing Usher’s Room and Confessional and there is a hole in the floor where the Usher’s Room used to be. For safety reasons, the doors to the Usher’s Room and Confessional have been nailed shut. In the Parish Center, crews have demolished the elevator lobby area and dug out the elevator pit in the floor.
The next steps will include the installation of a new rain drain and some plumbing modifications to the men’s bathroom off the Gathering Space, which are tied to the meeting room addition. Because of the work in the men’s bathroom, it will be closed soon for one and a half weeks. The timing of this closure is still to be determined. This will necessitate that both men and women will each use the ladies’ room off the Gathering Space during the time the men’s room is closed. The same protocols – one person allowed in the restroom at one time, except for a parent accompanying a child under the age of six – will still be in effect.
The interior stairs leading from the church to the Parish Center are currently only available as an emergency exit. There is no access from the stairs to the Parish Center. The only access to the Parish Center and the bathrooms in the Parish Center is by walking around the outside of the church and entering the exterior Parish Center entrance from the parking lot. Thank you for your understanding of this temporary inconvenience!
Given our current construction timeline, we are still anticipating the Phase 1 facilities enhancement projects to be completed on or around March 1, 2021. I will continue giving you monthly updates, so we are all kept abreast of these exciting and needed changes to our church building.
As always, if you have any questions about the project or its status, please don’t hesitate to contact me or
Deacon Jim Datovech. I wish you all a wonderful and blessed week!
Yours in Christ,
Fr. John
