Dear Parishioners,
God's thoughts are not our thoughts.
In the first reading, the Prophet Isaiah speaks of God’s Divine Mercy. "Let the people return to the Lord so he may have Mercy on them and abundantly pardon them. The people of his day would have opposed this so he reminds them not to create God in their image. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
While the people of Jesus' day, much like ours, considered the teaching of today's parable unfair, The Gospel is about the Kingdom of God and God’s hiring practices and God’s Compensation package. God's ways are not our ways.
I am thankful that God is not fair. I give thanks that His Mercy and compassion is much greater than what we think is reasonable. I give thanks that he never gives up on any of us. I give thanks that he desires the salvation of every single human being. I give thanks that he comes back time and time again inviting us into his Kingdom - in the morning, noontime and evening of our lives. God desires us to know the joy of loving him and being loved by him.
Let us humbly seek God's Mercy and then generously share God's Mercy this week.
Thank you to everyone who has stepped forward to offer physical, spiritual and financial support to our parish. As a community, we are truly blessed.
Let us continue to pray for each other and with each other as we build up the Kingdom of God.
I keep you and your families in my prayers.
May God bless you.
