Let Us Not Forget
At our parish council meeting last Tuesday, we discussed what we can do to keep parishioners connected during this time. We were also beginning to make our plans to bring our parishioners back to church after the all clear signal is given. As the discussion began it wasn’t long before the focus was on why attending Mass at Blessed Sacrament was important. We must not forget what it means to be a parishioner here and how that helps us grow closer to Christ.
We must not forget:
- We (Blessed Sacrament) are a community. Have you missed hanging out with us these past few months?
- Worship is meant to be done in a community. Jesus said “wherever two or three gather in my name, there am I in their midst.” (Matthew 18:20)
- Christianity involves loving our neighbors. Here are neighbors you can work with, pray with, and share the Eucharist. Together we make a difference.
- You are a blessing to others. We need you and want you.
- Your participation at Mass helps others grow in their faith.
- Christ will never shut the door on you. You are welcome in this church.
One woman said she hoped she would never forget the people who sat around her at church before the pandemic. “I pray for them and I miss praying with them.”
These are indeed trying times. If your faith and parish community were a stabilizing force prior to the pandemic, they can give you spiritual comfort now. The key is remembering what is important. You are not alone. You are not forgotten. You are not unneeded. You are part of the Blessed Sacrament community. And don’t forget…we look forward to the day we can all gather again to worship God as His family. With your help, we will soon be back again. Let us not forget.
