We successfully launched our first Flocknote last week and have received some very positive responses from so many of you. Thank you so much. We are continuing our effort to communicate more effectively with you.
Here are some questions many of you are asking us:
When will Sunday Masses commence again?
The Archbishop is still trying to work with City officials to come to a workable solution to this issue. As it stands parishes are allowed to have 50 people at an outdoor Mass and only 12 at a Mass inside the church.
We are allowed to have indoor funerals of 12 people (not counting the deceased).
We are hoping that we will be allowed to accommodate 25% of our capacity after October 1st. This is still under consideration.
How is the parish doing financially?
Since March we have lost approximately 33% of our income! This is better than some parishes but not as good as others.
We have had to reduce the hours of our staff but we have done everything we can to keep people from losing their jobs completely and to maintain their health insurance.
Many of you have continued to be generous with your donations. Thank you so much!
What does our future hold for us?
There is an answer I cannot even come close to answering. All I can do is hope that we will approach some semblance of normality by Christmas. I do however think we still have a year or two more before things will really get better. I do not think things will ever be as we knew it.
Friday September 25 is the feast of our patron, Saint Finn Barr. Since we cannot have our annual festival I will say Mass for all of you and ask his intercession for the parish and its people.
Yours always in the faith of Our Lord Jesus Christ,
Fr. McCain
