As many of you know, in March of this year, Governor Polis signed into law House Bill 1031, which renames Columbus Day to Cabrini Day in honor of St. Francis Xavier Cabrini! We are thrilled about this and want to celebrate as a school this wonderful day!
So, on Monday, October 5, we will be honoring Mother Cabrini in the following ways:
Students will be asked to wear a RELIGIOUS shirt and jeans/appropriate bottoms on this day. The shirts can be STM shirts or any other faith oriented shirts, but no shirts from other schools (Regis, Valor, Mullen, Notre Dame, etc.).
Morning Prayer – We will be sharing a bit of history and background on Mother Cabrini; basically introducing the holiday.
Religion Classes – Students will be dedicating a Rosary to Mother Cabrini as well as participating in a service project of making cards/writing letters to the elderly, those in need, and children in orphanages.
Lunch/Recess – We will be distributing a specidal treat to students after lunch to enjoy at recess to celebrate Mother Cabrini
In addition to celebrating on Monday, we will also be having a ½ day (11:30am dismissal) on Friday, October 9 to honor Mother Cabrini.
