What gorgeous fall weather. We took advantage of that and read on the front lawn under the trees with a classroom partner one day and our preschool reading buddies another day.
Hopefully you have all looked over the mid term and fast reports which went home Wednesday.
Our worms were no where to be found in the container, so we requested more and will be making our habitats on Monday again. Please send shredded newspaper, lettuce, carrot, banana peels, and egg shells. We will try it again.
Next week:
Math: We will continue with division dividing by 2 digit divisors and using remainders.
Lars: As we begin unit 2 our story next week is "Interrupted Journey" we willl be learning about endangered sea turtles. In grammar we will be working with verbs. Our spelling focus will be words that have vowel + r sounds. We will also be working with common beginning syllables and antonyms.
Science: Fifth graders continue to learn about food webs and ecosystems. We will be watching a video "Web of Life:Life in the Sea". We will also make our worm habitats.
Social Studies: We continue with geography learning about climate, vegetation, and using the land.
Art: Fire Posters are coming along nicely.
