Food Bank of Somerset County General Needs
We checked in with the Food Bank and they are in particular need of mini-boxes of cereal, as well as instant and ground coffee. If you are willing to donate, please place in the link and Jackie Taylor with pick up and deliver (thanks Jackie!).
As you know, the Foodbank is in great demand these days.
You can help by making a monetary donation by clicking here. This will allow the staff to purchase much needed food to deal with the increase in demand at their door. Thank you!
The Forum: Stars Beneath Us
Wednesday Evenings
We had our first session this past Wednesday - it's not too late to join! We were asked to read the first four chapters for 10-14.
Four evenings with professor, astrophysicist, and ordained minister, Paul Wallace
Usually, when one thinks of faith, science, and the Bible, the opening pages of Genesis come to mind. However, cosmic themes appear throughout scripture, and perhaps the strangest such appearance is found in the book of Job. When the character Job is beaten down by a series of terrible losses despite his morally unimpeachable life, he pleads to God for justice and God responds with the longest divine speech in the Bible. This speech does not explain or defend suffering, nor is it an apology for Job’s afflictions. It is instead a tour of the cosmos unlike anything else in the Bible. Job is presented with a universe that stands in accord with certain aspects of modern scientific thought: it values experience over tradition, offers a radical critique of anthropomorphic views of God, and removes human beings from the center of all things. Please join the class as we read through Paul Wallace’s Stars Beneath Us, which combines Job, personal narrative, humor, science, and theology as it promotes open and constructive dialogue between the Jewish and Christian religious traditions and modern science.

Yoga with Christine Marston
Yoga Anyone?
Warm autumn greetings dear friends! I hope this finds you well. If we’ve never met, hello there! I’m Christine, delighted to be a parishioner for 15 years or so. I’m a yoga instructor and holistic health coach and I’d love to offer yoga classes in our parish hall. These are challenging times and the practice of yoga will serve us well; body, mind and spirit. Explore and experience a deeper sense of calm and boost your immune system at the same time! All classes will accommodate all levels, no prior experience necessary!
I’d like to start by offering four classes per week throughout the month of October and see how it goes. The tentative schedule is as follows:
Monday 8AM in the parish hall
Monday 11:45AM lunch hour yoga in the parish hall
Thursday 3PM Zoom Session
Friday 8AM in the parish hall
Each class will be limited to 6 participants who will have over 10 feet of space around each mat. We will wear our masks on our way to and from the mat, masks during the practice will be optional. The investment is $15/class when 4 classes are purchased up front. One class at a time is $20. 10 percent of proceeds go to our beloved St. Mark’s. Scholarships are available. If the interest is there, but folks need other class times or prefer the zoom option, we can explore that as well.
Need a new magnet for your car? We've got you covered. Our new magnets are available in the office and the Narthex. If you prefer, we can mail you out one - just contact the office.
Forward Day by Day booklets for November- January are available in the Narthex and office. If you prefer that we mail you a copy, just let us know and we will get that out to you.
