Fr. Richard F. Reidy, Vicar General of the Diocese of Worcester, will be the primary celebrant for the Mass with other priests concelebrating.
After the Mass, we will have a talk by Claire Schaeffer-Duffy: Laudato Si in Action: A short reflection on environmental racism and how black Catholic women are leading the fight against petrochemical plants in Louisiana's 'Cancer Alley.'
Claire Schaeffer-Duffy is a founding member of the SS. Francis and Therese Catholic Worker, a lay community that offers hospitality to men and women in need and engages in a variety of works for peace and justice. Program director at Worcester’s Center for Nonviolent Solution, she also works as a freelance journalist, contributing to the National Catholic Reporter, and other Catholic periodicals, since 2000.
The Mass and talk by Claire is planned for both in-person participation and viewing remotely via Facebook Live.
In person attendance requirements:
- Maintain a social distance of at least six feet (families may sit closer).
- Wear a face mask at all times (except for receiving holy communion).
- Do not ask people to “slide down the pew”.
- Use hand sanitizer when asked.
Registration will help us plan for the in-person attendance.
