The Share and Care Ministry is again hosting a Holiday Shoe Box Gift Drive to benefit So Others Might Eat (S.O.M.E) in Washington, D.C. Ascension parishioners have been very generous in supporting this effort in the past. Last year Ascension delivered 205 shoe boxes. We're hoping to provide at least that number this year. If you're one of those who travel frequently and have a "collection" of hotel toiletries in your suitcase or closet, this is a perfect opportunity to free up some space by donating to this event.
We know times are difficult and many are experiencing financial hardships. If you are able to support this year's drive, volunteers will be at curbside after all the Masses October 24th and 25th to collect donations. The needed items are in the attached document and may also be found in the parish bulletin.
Empty shoe boxes are needed. We also welcome donations of "filled" shoe boxes that contain all the requested items on the shopping list. Please mark if the box is for a man or woman.
Gift cards and monetary donations of any amount are encouraged. Grocery store and drug store gift cards (no fast food cards please) should be placed in a sealed envelope, labeled "SHOEBOXES" and handed directly to one of the volunteers. Checks must be made payable to "Ascension Catholic Church" with a notation "SHOEBOXES for S.O.M.E." Please place checks in an envelope marked "SHOEBOXES" and place the envelope in the collection basket or the "out box" next to the "donut room" door of the office building. Checks must be received by November 1st.
If you have any questions, please contact Jacqueline Murray or Maureen Barber.
Thank you for your generosity and support,
Share and Care Ministry
