We had a great week this week. Fifth grade adopted some ants. We are enjoying watching about a dozen of them working away in their illuminated neon blue gel. Check out our Facebook page,"Fifth Grade Rocks", for photos. Students had a fabulous Friday enjoying dodgeball with some teachers, the movie Old Yeller, pajama day, and a cartoon lunch.
Our Global Read Aloud, Indian No More, began with answering some questions about favorite things, family stories, and the government taking their homes. Then we did some more deep thinking and completed an agree/disagree form leading up to the story. We watched the book trailer and we are right on track reading chapters 1-5. (Mrs. King is trying to read all of the Chinook Wawa language) LOL 😝😆 😂
Math: Students took chapter 2 test and will move on to decimals next week.
LARS: Fifth graders will be working on Lesson 8 which will focus on: persuasion, analyze/evaluate, conjunctions, homophones, and prefixes.
The story is titled "Everglades Forever", it is about protecting the environment.
Science: We took the I-check Friday for Investigation one. Next week we begin investigation two learning about yeast.
Social Studies: The class will begin chapter two, the earliest Americans, and look at time lines.
Art: Fifth graders are finishing up one perspective names for their portfolio covers, and then will be moving on to door decor for the Harvest Hooray.
Coming Up:
10-16 Early Out PD
10-23 End of first term
10-29 Harvest Hooray

Have a great weekend,
