On January 15, 2020, the Rett Family and our parish community was devastated by the sudden death of Grace Mason Rett, who was killed one day after celebrating her twentieth birthday in an accident while on a training trip to Florida with the women’s crew team from the College of the Holy Cross.
Grace was an exemplary student and athlete during her time at Our Lady of the Valley Regional School (OLV), Marianapolis Preparatory School, and the College of the Holy Cross, and unashamedly lived out her Catholic faith with passion and zeal. She believed, as did Saint Paul, that she could do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
Having never forgotten her roots as an OLV Angel, Grace would frequently say, “One day, if I ever have enough money, I will build a gym for OLV.” We are working hard to make Grace’s dream come true for her and for the many generations of students who will benefit from a new complex at OLV featuring a high-school sized gymnasium, two additional classrooms, and more. We are pleased to announce that the name of the new complex will be The GRACE Center (The Grace Rett Athletic Complex and Education Center).
The total cost of this exciting project is estimated at $3.5 million, of which the school has received commitments of nearly $2.2 million.
