Good morning to all of my parish families and friends,
Today we remember one of the great pillars of our Catholic faith, especially when it comes to mysticism. St. Teresa of Avila was Spanish mystic of the 16th Century who brought reform and renewal to the Carmelite Order. Along with her spiritual director, St. John of the Cross, she emphasized the importance of prayer as a deep union with Jesus.
St. Teresa said that it was important to "climb the heights" of prayer while at the same time staying in touch with reality. When we are in prayer and their is someone who is in need, then we should stop what we are doing at that moment and help that person. If we were to stay in prayer and ignore that duty, then this would be displeasing to God.
Let us be prayerful and caring people. We are called to act with genuine hearts, most especially when it comes to helping others.
St. Teresa of Avila....pray for us!
God bless.....Fr. Pat
