Brrrr cold weather has arrived! Please make sure your student has a warm coat, hat, gloves, and water bottle each day.

Math: Students began chapter three. They will be learning to add, subtract and estimate decimals sums and differences this week.
LARS: Lesson 9 focuses on, nature deserves our respect, as we read "Storm Warriors". It is a story about a storm at sea and brave rescuers. The skills covered are conclusions, generalizations, infer, and predict. The spelling words are compound words. The grammar lessons are compound and complex sentences. Students will also learn about greek and latin roots. We are reading our Global Read Aloud and played our first kahoot!
Science: Fifth graders will be planting wheat seeds and placing them in the sun and darkness to explore photosynthesis.
Social studies: We will continue to participate in the Iowa Youth Straw Poll. We have been learning about Iowa's "first in the nation" status for caucuses. Students read some pro and con articles and had a little debate. Next we will earn about political parties and take a political survey.
Art: Harvest Hooray door design will be happening in art.
