Traditionally, we remember the faithful departed during the month of November. At St. Simon that exhibits itself in several ways.
First, we will celebrate the Mass of All Souls on Monday, November 2 at 6:00 p.m., followed by a reception in the narthex where, over light refreshments, we can share some stories of loved ones who are no longer with us who may have been a major influence in our lives. We would especially love to hear about those who helped build your faith. We recommend masks be worn, except when enjoying refreshments.
We will display the scroll of names near the Mary Chapel of those who have passed away since last November. In addition to those who were buried from St. Simon, if you had a loved one pass away since last November, let the parish office know by October 28. Please be sure to give us your name and connection to the deceased. All the names will be read at Mass on November 2 and families are encouraged to attend and light a candle in memory of their loved one when their name is read.
We will once again have a visual of how much we miss the ones we love with our Ribbons to Remember cross. Different colored ribbons can be placed on the cross to remind us of a grandparent, favorite aunt or uncle or someone else we love who has died.
Lastly, we will have "In Memory Of" cards that you can fill out with the name of any loved one whose name you wish to be lifted up in prayer during Mass. We will collect the cards and place them under the altar at each weekend Mass. At the end of the month, the cards are burned.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
