...live in a manner worthy of the call you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another through love, striving to preserve the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace. (From Ephesians 4:1-6)
Maybe you watched the debate and maybe you didn’t, but I bet you all opened up some social media and read comments about it from your friends and strangers or maybe you made comments yourself. Were you or they humble and gentle in the commentary? Were they or you patient with those you oppose? Was gentleness part of your response or did you call them a liar, corrupt, a cheater, or incompetent? Did you show love towards the candidates or those who you disagreed with? Are you striving to make peace and unity across the aisle when it comes to political matters or with another denomination across town or with those who disagree on the pandemic? We are called to live worthy of the call we have received as Christians and Jesus calls us to love our neighbor, pray for our enemies, forgive those who have wronged us, to turn the other cheek, and to serve those in need...how’s that going for you, me, and our nation? My sisters and brothers in Christ, hate has no home in the Christian life, so let us love one another and live in the manner worthy of the call we have received! Amen!
