Hello there POTHE! We've made it to the last full weekend in October - a date I set back in September by which to fully introduce the new setting Mass of St Frances Cabrini! If you've been attending weekend Masses at any of our four worship sites, or virtually through our LiveStream at Holy Martyrs, you should be getting comfortable and familiar with the Holy, We Proclaim, Great Amen and Lamb of God. I've heard some beautiful congregational singing as we've learned these acclamations over the past several weeks. Your corporate voice is increasing in confidence and vitality. Good work and keep it up! We will continue to sing the Mass of St Frances Cabrini for the remainder of Fall Ordinary Time, coinciding with her feast day on November 13! And if you don't know anything about St Frances Cabrini I invite you to check out this video link.

Each week I search the best of the internet for choral music that aligns with the Weekend's scripture readings and post it on our website at Choral Music Worth Hearing. I'm breaking with that tradition this week because I came across this piece by Hans Zimmer and just had to share. It doesn't align with our Scripture for this weekend, but rather it gives us a glimpse of that transcendent quality of music that Fr Phil spoke of in his pondering this week. I can imagine this being sung in heaven. May we pray earnestly and frequently for All Saints and All Souls who have gone before us.
This is where I spend some time, most every week, talking about music at mass, expounding on sacred music, covid-related items as they relate to congregate church worship and helping you on your journey of faith through the medium of music. Comments welcome and encouraged! Enjoy!
